Sobriety and the Will to Stay Clean

I was moving out of school,

Moving into college
I was moving out of school,
Moving into college
My graduation was here
My time to party was here
My friends and peers
They all wanted to give it a shot
My friends and peers
They all wanted to give it a shot
Reassuring each other
Once would be fine, would it not?
Once would be fine, would it not?
But would it?
They weren’t reassuring themselves
Just running from the truth
They wanted the altered state of mind, the ever-calling trance
They wanted to be the addict, who got the second chance
Before they knew it,
They were addicted
Before they knew it,
They were addicted beyond belief
There wasn’t a way out, for them to find,
They were trapped in the confines of their own mind
They wanted to leave the temptation,
Even before they got addicted, they depended on rehabilitation to be the solution
They were looking for a better tomorrow
Yet each time they tried, they found nothing but emptiness and sorrow
Alone on their own,
For society, they were not the ones to condone,
Whether they sit in their empty alley,
Or their sweet penthouse’s galley
They all met the same fate,
A Life filled with despair and hate
A Life filled with despair and hate

Don’t depend on Rehab,
Drugs and then rehab are not the solution,
We need to stop it at the very onset
Let’s put an end to this,

Let’s say No to Drugs,
Narcotics are not the solution,
Opioids aren’t life’s salvation
It’ll last only for so long, the beautiful trance
The rest will be with the Devil, the Devil’s dance
Volunteer yourself, to live the dream,
Sobriety and the will to stay clean
Volunteer yourself, to live the dream,
Sobriety and the will to stay clean
Sobriety and the will to stay clean.
